In 1955, Coover, Betty Cleary, Mona Kessinger, and Alma Hornbaker signed the documents of incorporation which created the Junction City Little Theater. It began in 1949, with the vision and guidance of Bettina Coover, a vibrant and imaginative woman who became an integral part of every community she joined. After a refresh, it relaunched as the Spillane Theater with Douglas Fairbanks in Flirting with Fate and Charlie. Junction City Little Theater is the longest-running community theater in the state of Kansas. The Roanoke Theater opened Januwith The Little Minister. The building itself has largely remained unaltered aside from a few changes including the construction of a projection booth and the removal of separate access to the second balcony, which was designated for African-American patrons before desegregation. This reopened as the Tampico theatre on July 25th, 1946. The Springfield Little Theatre, which was established in 1934, bought it 1970. After a short period when it operated as a theatrical venue, it became a movie house again. Beginning in 1912, the theater began to offer vaudeville acts, tabloids, and movies, which became the main draw in 1919.įrom 1940 to 1959, it was leased to Fox-Midwest Theatres. Well known artists of the time also performed here including John Philip Sousa. During its early years, the Landers not only offered theatrical and musical performances but other kinds of entertainment as well such as wrestling matches. It opened on Septemwith a performance of a musical comedy called The Golden Girl. Hearing Claire and Paul's vows and promises to each other inside that space and setting was such an honor and photographing it was a privilege. They laughed, they cried, and they made promises to each other all over again in the most beautiful setting, then danced the night away to the beats of DJ Fernando. Later, they met up with their friends and celebrated with a few drinks prior to the ceremony. Octagon shaped in a gleaming marble façade, the Little Theatre features an exterior promenade, balcony and a permanent stage area. Claire wore a stunning gown by Terani Couture and Paul rocked an awesome suit from Todd's Clothiers. Then, walked over to The Little Theatre for some photos inside the space.
